The Tummy tuck or Abdominoplasty
Sometimes, regardless of how much we exercise or trying to get a flat abdomen we simply can not get results we want. Due to pregnancies or previous weight loss our skin of abdomen becomes flabby, such appearance cause low self -esteem and can be embarrassing for some people. Having Tummy Tuck helps to eliminate this problem as it removes loose skin and firms muscles.
To remove loose excess skin the procedure involves two-hour surgery where the abdominal skin is incised across the lower abdomen and is then lifted off the underlying muscle wall.
This is one-off treatment leaves you with firmer stomach muscles and flatten abdomen. No more flabby skin which can be due to pregnancies or pervious weight loss.
There are two approaches for Abdominoplasty that our surgeon Mr Joffily uses Full and Mini Abdominoplasty.
The procedure for a complete, or full abdominoplasty typically starts with an incision made from hip to hip just above the pubic area. Then, another incision is made to free the navel from the surrounding skin. The skin is detached from the abdominal wall to reveal the muscle fascia, which is tightened with sutures and muscles edges are approximated. After that, the surgeon removes the excess skin and fat. The belly button stalk is then brought out through a new hole and sutured into place.
Liposuction is often performed to refine and improve the abdominal sides. A complete abdominoplasty can take three to five hours.
A partial, or mini, abdominoplasty involves smaller incisions. The skin and fat of the lower abdomen are detached in a more limited fashion from the muscle fascia. The skin is stretched down and excess skin removed. The belly button stalk may be divided from the muscle below and the belly button moved lower on the abdominal wall. A portion of the abdominal muscle fascia wall is then tightened, and liposuction is often used to complete the contour definition. The flap is then stitched back into place. A partial abdominoplasty, or mini-tuck, normally takes one to two hours.
Patients that had a tummy tuck need to avoid strenuous activity for at least six weeks after the operation. Your plastic surgeon will give you specific instructions about the recovery process including restrictions on various activities.
