ABOUT Eyelid Surgery
Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty) is a very delicate plastic operation that aims to correct defects, deformities, and disfigurations of the eyelids. It performed by removal of the excess skin, adipocyte fat, or both, from around your eyes. With the excision and the removal, or the repositioning of excess tissues, and the reinforcement of the corresponding muscle and tendon tissues. This cosmetic surgery resolves functional and cosmetic problems of the area from the eyebrow to the upper portion of the cheek.
There are two approaches for eyelid surgery by correctiong upper eyelid or lower.
For surgery on the upper eyelids, cuts are made into the natural lines and creases in your eyelids, and in the wrinkles at the corners of your eyes.
For surgery on the lower eyelids, cuts are made just below your eyelashes. This means your scars will run along the natural folds of your eyes. Lower eyelid surgery may also improve the tear trough area. Excess fat, muscle and loose skin are then removed, and the cut is closed using fine stitches. If only fat is removed and there is no excess skin, the cut may be made inside the lower eyelids, leaving no visible scar.
The procedure is usually done under general anaesthesia, however, if you prefer local anaesthesia, the area around your eyes will be numbed while you stay awake. A sedative may be given with a local anaesthetic to help you relax.

During the eyelid operation other adjustments can be made such as: lifting of the eyebrow, upper part of the cheek and the corners of the eyelid without tightening them. The operation takes one to two hours, or less if just the upper or lower lids are being treated. Your surgeon may use either conventional or laser techniques.
We recommend to use eye ointment and will give you advice about how to care for your eyes during the recovery period. You should try to rest as much as you can and have a friend or relative who wil stay with you for the first 24 hours.
To reduce the swelling around your eyes, it is recommended to apply a cold compress it can help to reduce the swelling and bruising.
There to kind of stiches, the dissolvable ones usually removed on their own in seven to ten days. The non-dissolvable stitches are usually removed three to five days after surgery. The tape supporting your eyelids is usually removed after three to five days.
